NASCAR Adds Mexican Driver to Cup Series

NASCAR has confirmed that Daniel Suarez, a Mexican-born driver, will compete in the Cup Series race series in 2021. Justin Marks, a former NASCAR driver as well as co-owner of K&N Pro Series West, formed Trackhouse Racing. The ECR engines will power the team, which will operate under technical alliance with Richard Childress racing. In addition, the team will operate out of the Richard Childress Racing shop in Welcome, North Carolina.

Suarez is now the fifth NASCAR driver, born outside of the United States, to win at NASCAR’s highest-level race.

Daniel Suarez, a Mexican native, was born in Monterrey. He went karting with his family as a hobby, but soon caught the racing bug. He was immediately hooked and began to train regularly. He was soon a two-time Mexican national champion in karting. He competed in the RotaxMAX Challenge Grand Finals in 2004 and also in an Italian competition.

He is the first Mexican-born driver to win a Cup Series race
