Kurt Busch clinches playoff spot

Kurt Busch has been confirmed as a playoff candidate in the 2018 NASCAR champion series. He still has one race remaining in the regular-season. Due to a concussion-like symptom, the two-time champion had not raced in three races since July 17, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He had previously declared that he would be unable to compete in the regular season. In addition, Busch had a medical waiver that allowed him to skip the race due to a health concern.

Busch continued to lead the field during the second stage. Elliott began second in the first stage. But, Busch was ahead of Elliott in the second stage. Until an incident with Denny Hamlin, Kurt Busch maintained the lead in the third stage. The incident brought both cars to the outside but Busch was still able to climb back up to the top lap during the second caution. After taking the stage lead, Kyle Busch was in a position to win the championship four.
