Denny Hamlin wins NASCAR Cup Series race on Homestead-Miami Speedway

Denny Hamlin wins NASCAR’s Homestead-Miami Speedway event for the third season. It's now three consecutive wins. With this win, Hamlin is tied with Tony Stewart and Greg Biffle for most wins at this 1.5-mile track. Hamlin won the NASCAR Cup Series for the 40th time in his career.

It was a wild race. William Byron leads at 91 laps. Hamlin is battling for second, but the late surge of Byron gives him the win. Hamlin hasn't lost his battle for second place yet. Despite his late pit road speed penalty, he's still in top 10.

William Byron wins

William Byron is the first driver to win at HomesteadMiami's Cup Series. Adam Stevens, the Truck Series crew chief, was working with Byron a year prior. The Homestead season finale was won by the two of them. In 2017, the two were promoted from Homestead to the Cup Series.

William Byron won Sunday's Dixie Vodka 400 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The driver finished ahead of Tyler Reddick, Martin Truex Jr., and Martin Truex Jr. The victory was Byron's second career NASCAR Cup Series win, and it was his first at the Miami track. The next four drivers finished in the top 10: Martin Truex Jr., Tyler Reddick, and Kyle Larson.

Kyle Busch ranks in the Top 10

Kyle Busch started 24th in NASCAR Cup Series Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race. By lap 25, he had moved up to fifteenth. He remained there until lap 25 when he was yellow for competition. After that, he pitted lap 27 and resumed 13th. On lap 65, he dropped to 15th. Busch stated to Ben Beshore his crew chief that his car was still too loose. Busch pitted for four tires as well fuel and trackbar and wedge adjustments. He finished eighth overall.

Denny Hamlin won the pole for the Ford EcoBoost 400 from Kyle Busch after a rainy race. Saturday's race will broadcast live on NBCSN at 2.05 p.m. ET. ET. Kyle Busch is determined that he can put behind him his disappointing season at NASCAR Homestead and finish in top 10.

Austin Dillon finishes in the top 10

Austin Dillon is looking to build on his eighth-place finish at the Dixie Vodka 500 last year. Dillon was eighth in his previous Cup Series starts at Homestead on three occasions. Dillon currently ranks ninth in Driver Ratings at the Homestead track.

Dillon has finished in the top 10 twice in seven Homestead career starts and has never been lower than 14th since 2014. Erik Jones is driving for Richard Petty Motorsports, and after finishing 14th on the Daytona road course last week, he is scheduled to start 18th in Sunday's Homestead event. While driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, he has been third at Homestead once in 2019.

Denny Hamlin's championship picture shrinks to 16 in September

Denny Hamlin has two races remaining on the regular season. His championship picture is in doubt. He is currently 26th in NASCAR Cup points standings. This is his worst start to a season since his 16-year-long career. Tony Stewart is tied for second in career wins with him (49), but he has yet to win a championship the first three months. Hamlin faces increasing pressure, especially since he signed a multiyear contract this year.

With two wins this year, Denny Hamlin has a chance to jump into the postseason. He can't drop below the top 13 wins with his second win in succession. He won't have to worry about new winners or points with his third win in a row.
