The 2018 NASCAR Schedule includes three races in Kentucky. A triple-header weekend will be hosted at the Kentucky Speedway by the Quaker State 400. NASCAR's championship weekend will be held at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in the autumn. The Daytona 500 is also held in Nashville in October. Kentucky also has the Rockingham Speedway. It is now closed to NASCAR racing.
Quaker State400 anchors the 2017 triple-header weekend at Kentucky Speedway
This weekend, the Kentucky Speedway will host the Quaker State 400 presented to Advance Auto Parts. It will be part of a triple-header weekend that takes place in Sparta (Kentucky). The race will be run on Saturday night, July 8 and will be the eighth Cup Series race in the track's history. The race will be live broadcast on NBC Sports Network.
Sawyer Brown will perform at the Alsco 300, before the Quaker State 400. The singer is a well-known country music artist with 23 studio albums. He has received multiple awards, including the CMA Horizon Award.

Quaker State 400 will be a part of the expanded business to business partnership with Sonic Automotive, Speedway Motorsports Incorporated and Speedway Motorsports Incorporated. It will provide fans with exclusive experiences. Quaker State logo towel will be handed out to fans as they enter the gates. They will be encouraged to wave them throughout the race.
Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway will host NASCAR's championship weekend in fall
NASCAR plans to bring their championship weekend to Nashville this autumn. SMI has a plan to make Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway a viable venue for the event. The facility has been in operation for more than 100 years and is scheduled to undergo extensive renovations in order to meet NASCAR's national-series standards. A huge fan base and passionate fans make the speedway an ideal location for NASCAR’s championship dinner.
The race will feature the 37th All-American 600 race, which will be a championship race to the division for limited late-models. Johnathon Dishman won last year's event. Pure Stocks, Legends Cars, Bandoleros and other races will be held over the weekend.
Rockingham Speedway shut down for NASCAR racing
Rockingham Speedway (Kentucky) is no longer a location for NASCAR races. It was shut down due to lack revenue. The CEO of Speedway Motorsports says it was the right business decision. Martinsville Speedway, Kentucky’s shortest NASCAR racing track, was established in its place. It's shaped like a paperclip. The track offers close-quarter racing.

During Rockingham's closure, the track was used by Monster Energy Cup teams and Xfinity Series teams for testing. Rockingham was where teams tested their cars to see how they would perform on other tracks. The high sand content in the track surface makes it particularly abrasive, and this wears down tires faster than other tracks. Kyle Petty also tested his car on the Rockingham track before moving to Darlington.
Rockingham Speedway was a well-known track, known for its great racing and spectacular sightlines. However, it lacked the necessary resources to provide professional-level racing. The track made poor investments in infrastructure in the past and was not ahead of other facilities in business plans. To pay the estate taxes, the track was auctioned after Wilson and DeWitt died. Speedway Motorsports placed Rockingham up for sale in October 2007.
