Engines

A look at the engines of the American Le Mans winners goes a long way in determining the winner of the race. The Mk IV is America's first GT40 and one of only six made. It was the first all American Le Mans winner and used the same engine and chassis as the Porsche 917. However, it was not just the drivers that won the race, as American teams also won the LMGTE Pro class in the 1970s.

Klasification

There are two classes of American Le Mans winners: class 1 or class 2. In the first, the winner car finishes the course within the time limit. The winning car completes a circuit in a shorter time than the minimum lap. Historically, this ambiguity in classifications has resulted in a number of dramatic events. For example, some cars have deliberately waited until the final lap before restarting and crawling across the finish line. Fortunately, this practice has been discouraged in recent years.

Ford GT40

1966 was the 24 Hours of Le Mans' winner, with the GT40 MK II. Driven by Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren, it was the first American racecar to win the event. Shelby Collectibles made the replica in high-quality quality. It captures the essence and spirit of the original car in the best possible way. You cannot charge it with a coupon but you can save money if you buy the model.

Porsche 911 GT1

Porsche was the 1998 American Le Mans winner and then went on to compete in GT1 for the second time. It was, however, a completely different car from the winner last year. The rules regarding homologation required the new car to be road-legal. Porsche had no choice but to de-spec their car in order for it to conform to the regulations. This was a great achievement. The 911 GT1 won its fifth American Le Mans victory in 1998. It also earned a place on the race's history.
