Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway is the venue for NASCAR's fall championship weekend

NASCAR will bring its championship weekend this fall to Nashville. SMI is developing a plan for making the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway viable as a venue. It has been in existence for over 100 years. The facility will be renovated to meet NASCAR's requirements. A large and passionate fan base makes the speedway a great location for NASCAR’s championship banquet.

The race will include the 37th All-American400 race. It is a championship for the limited late-model division. Johnathon Dischman won the event last season. Pure Stocks, Legends Cars and Bandoleros will be some of the other races that weekend.

Rockingham Speedway has been closed for NASCAR racing

Rockingham Speedway, Kentucky, is no longer an NASCAR race track. It was shut down due to lack revenue. Speedway Motorsports CEO claims it was a business decision. Martinsville Speedway, Kentucky’s shortest NASCAR racing track, was established in its place. It's shaped like a paperclip. The track offers close-quarter racing.

During Rockingham's closure, the track was used by Monster Energy Cup teams and Xfinity Series teams for testing. Rockingham was where teams tested their cars to see how they would perform on other tracks. Due to the high sand content of the track surface, tires wear down faster than on other tracks. Kyle Petty used the Rockingham track for testing before he went to Darlington.

Rockingham Speedway, a track well-known for its good racing and excellent sightlines, lacked the resources needed to sustain a professional-level racing experience. The track's history of poor infrastructure investments meant that it was often behind other facilities in business plans. To pay the estate taxes, the track was auctioned after Wilson and DeWitt died. Speedway Motorsports placed Rockingham up for sale in October 2007.
