Opel, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW are just a few of the car makers that have participated in the DTM race. You may not have even heard of Opel until now. In 2012, the German manufacturer will make its debut in the series.
Audi
Audi confirmed it will enter the DTM race series in 2013 with a new R18. Audi spent over two-and-a-half years designing the engine and more than 1,000 hours testing the dynamometer. Audi's new engine will make it possible to compete in DTM, a highly competitive class. It will also allow Audi to challenge rivals such as BMW or Aston Martin. There are 18 DTM races across nine weekends in Germany.

Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz' 1987 season was a memorable one. Nearly half of the car's horsepower was generated by the turbocharged engine. Mercedes received an aero restriction instead of a penalty weigh. With more professional media and factory teams, the sport was flourishing. Mercedes could not win any race. They finished third behind BMW Team RBM.
BMW
The BMW DTM race cars can be built in two locations. The first is the Garching plant. Next is the Dingolfing facility, where new M4 racecars are being manufactured to comply with the GT3 regulations. These cars will be competing in the DTM. The two last plants are in Regensburg, Germany. The safety cells are built in Regensburg. Assembly begins in Garching. In September, FIA homologates all race cars.
Opel
The Opel Vectra GTS V8 will make its DTM debut this year in the new race series. Volker Strycek from Opel motorsport is also behind the car. The Nurburgring will host the race. Strycek was the winner of the DTM championship in 1984, and the Nurburgring 24-hour race champion in 2003. He also drove Opel Astra V8 Coupe (Vectra GTS V8).

Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR GT1-class sports car
The CLK-GTR (road-going version) of the acclaimed GT1-class Mercedes-Benz. The car was completed in winter 1996-1997. The project was intended to compete with the McLaren F1 GTR, and the team worked for more than one hundred and eighty days to design, develop, and test the car.
